So, I’m a perfectionist. You’ll learn that about me.
Well, maybe I’m really just a pessimist trapped in an optimist’s body or something like that.
Here’s the thing … I like to be sure that my work is completely ready before sending it out for the world to see, and this blog is no exception.
I started planning it last May just after returning from the conference at FoVA. My Virtual Assistant colleagues told me to ‘just get it out – don’t wait till it’s perfect’.
I knew what I wanted to do with it, but still didn’t get it together. I wasn’t ready; I was perfecting it (or so I thought). What I was really doing was … well, not doing it.
Over the course of the next few months the same advice kept coming up: ‘done is better than perfect’; ‘if you think of what you want to do, just start doing it’; ‘better to get going and then update after you’re started’.
I actually even started giving that advice to my clients and other colleagues. I just didn’t take my own advice. It’s great advice, after all!
And here I am at the end of 2008 and I decided … perfect will come. Just get it done.
So here it is. My blog.
Is done better than perfect? I’m beginning to think maybe it is!
Happy New Year!
